✨ Quilt Binding Hack ✨ Did you know you can use a hair straightener to make quilt binding? If you can’t be bothered pulling out the iron, this trick will save you time and effort! 🙌 Cut your fabric strips to the desired width (2.5” works great). Fold the strip in half and gently press. Set your straightener to a low-medium heat, and slowly pull the fabric through, letting the heat press the folds as you go! Attach your freshly made binding to your quilt and voila! “Exciting progress on the EPP quilt! Today, I added a tiny but meaningful detail: dates and fabric manufacturer information, helping preserve the quilt’s history. It’s just come off the long arm, and the binding is on—only hand stitching left to go. If I can track down the gentleman who made it, I’ll be adding his initials to the quilt too, which can easily be done back on the long arm. This quilt’s story is really coming together, and I’m so happy that its history will be preserved forever, right in the quilt top itself. “Here’s a 👀 peek at the unfinished EPP quilt I purchased from eBay — now pieced and on the long arm! 🎉 I’ve managed to uncover some fascinating history about it: the quilt was made by a gentleman school music teacher. After some digging, I learned that the fabric used is VIP Cranston printworks produced in the Webster factory in America dating back to the late 1970s or early 1980s. I’ve even reached out to the school in hopes of discovering the gentleman’s name, ( details on EPP paper pieces) which I’d love to include along with the dates and fabric details as I finish the quilt. Once the edge-to-edge ‘Wellnoted1’ design is complete, I’ll add the special details using the long arm.
